Le Vorris & Vox Circus

Le Vorris & Vox Circus is a RSO (recognized student organization) at the University of Chicago dedicated to promoting the circus arts through performances, practices, and workshops. We perform and welcome all the arts- from traditional circus skills like unicycling, stilts-walking, aerials, acrobatics, fire-manipulation to music, dancing, and all around rocking out.

During the year, we perform at various events, have weekly practices to learn and develop awesome new skills, and hold skills workshops that are open to the community.

Most practices are Open Gym, during which time anyone may drop in. During some time slots, we host peer-led classes during which space priority is given to the class. With the exception of aerials classes, these are open to anyone who wishes to participate. Stretching and conditioning classes alternate weeks, with stretching classes on Sundays after odd weeks in the quarter and conditioning on Sundays after even weeks.

The Monkey King

Winter 2016

A collaboration between Le Vorris & Vox, UT/TAPS, Kojo Daiko, China Care, and Dragon Dance Club. In an adventure of physical storytelling, a young girl adopted from China and brought to America seeks peace from the lessons of the past with the help of the tenacious folk hero, Monkey King. Adapted from the Chinese folktale Journey to the West and directed by Andrew Mao, The Monkey King presents a world both ancient and new, featuring acrobatics, aerial silks, trapeze, taiko drumming, and a Chinese dragon.
